10 Foods That Help in Brain Development of Your Child
During the developmental stages, children need an abundant amount of nutrients. While supplements are beneficial, the nutrients they receive from the foods they eat are the easiest for the body to break down and utilize.
Apples/plums – Known for the abundance of quercetin, apples and plums are ideal for a sack lunch. They are also convenient snacks for when kids are at home and need a quick pick me up.
Berries – Bright, colorful berries are full of antioxidants and other vitamins that are needed for proper brain function. One rule of thumb to follow is the brighter the fruit, the more nutritious.
Lean or Clean Meats – Meats that are marbled with fats and gristle are also heavy with toxins. Antibiotics and pesticides collect in fat deposits.
Cauliflower – Vitamin B6, folate, and fiber are found in cauliflower in rather large amounts compared to other fruits and vegetables.
Eggs – Eggs are high in protein, lutein, zinc, and omega 3 fatty acids that can help a child concentrate.
Greens – Greens help to detoxify the brain and improve overall brain function.
Nuts/Seeds/Nut butters – Full of essential fatty acids, proteins, fiber, vitamins, and minerals, nuts, seeds, and the butters produced from there are excellent for brain development.
Oatmeal – Oatmeal's high fiber and protein content help to keep arteries and blood vessels open. This encourages ample blood flow to the brain.
Yogurt – Full fat yogurts give the brain what it needs to develop properly. The brain must have a certain amount of fat if it is to function efficiently.
Salmon – Salmon has omega 3 fatty acids, high levels of protein, and an abundance of minerals that boost brain function.
